There are places along the Front Range that feel immediately familiar, even if you’ve only passed through them a few times. This painting brings together a view of both North Table Mountain and South Table Mountain, with the land stretching out in front of them. What drew me in was the contrast, the way color and form could hold both energy and stillness at the same time.

Just beyond that, the land rises into a green hill covered in trees, creating a quiet separation between the foreground and the plateaus behind it. The Table Mountains sit with a sense of permanence, while further back, the foothills shift into softer purples and distant peaks. Above it all, the sky carries that same color relationship of gold and violet, but in a lighter, more open way. The clouds rise gently, holding the warmth of the day without weight.

This piece came from wanting to hold onto that balance of the brightness of the season, the structure of the land, and the feeling of being fully present within it.
