Biography
Karen Lynn Link is a Colorado artist whose vibrant landscape paintings explore color, movement, and the emotional experience of place. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas and gessoed paper, she also incorporates materials such as india ink and vine charcoal into her process. Her work began with an interest in how people relate to their environments and has evolved into paintings that celebrate atmosphere, beauty, memory, and expressive color.
Inspired by artists such as Pierre Bonnard, Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, Wolf Kahn, and John Hull, Karen creates energetic landscapes rooted in the Colorado Front Range. Her paintings balance observation with imagination, inviting viewers to connect with landscape through emotion, color, and personal interpretation.
Her work has been exhibited throughout Colorado, including at Spark Gallery, Foothills Art Center, and Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, and was featured in an invitational exhibition for the Colorado State University President's Office. Karen earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the University of Colorado Denver in 2000 and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Colorado State University in 2007. Her studies also include the Art Students League of Denver and the Colorado Institute of Art.
In addition to her studio practice, Karen has taught at Front Range Community College, Colorado State University, and Foothills Art Center. She previously owned a gallery in Denver and has supported numerous Colorado arts organizations through teaching, collaboration, and volunteer work.
